Volkswagen Beetle, XL1 Concept and Touareg Showcased

The XL1 is claimed to be the most efficient concept car in the world, while the iconic Beetle is in its third generation. The all new Tauareg is expected to be available to the Indian customers from April, 2012.
January 6, 2012: Volkswagen has unveiled its iconic Beetle, XL1 concept and the all-new Touareg at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. The company is promoting the XL1 as the most efficient concept car in the world and this car is in its third stage of development. The iconic Beetle introduced is in its third generation. And the all-new Touareg is expected to be made available for Indian customers from April, 2012.
The XL1 features a plug in hybrid concept that makes use of the fuel efficient TDI technology and DSG gearbox delivering peak power of 48PS from 0.8-litre displacement. The new Beetle has turbocharged 4-cylinder engine under its hood, which follows downsizing philosophy of the 1.4-litre TSI, 1.8-litre TSI and 2.0-litre TSI engines. The Beetle is claimed to reach 0-100kmph in just 10.9 seconds and can attain the peak speed of 180kmph. The Beetle sports 7-speed DSG gearbox. With 1.4-litre TSI turbo and supercharged 4-cylinder, the beetle produces 160PS of power at 5,800rpm and peak torque of 240Nm at 4,500rpm. This Beetle can achieve 0-100kmph in 8.3 seconds.
Speaking about the Touareg, the company said that it is equipped with a V6 3.0l TDI engine with 245PS. The new Touareg is claimed to be lighter and aerodynamically designed vehicle.
