March 16, 2012: Earlier this year, Mitsubishi made a good start by launching the all-new Pajero Sport and now, the company has tried to continue the trend by launching the 7 seater version of its 2012 Outlander Crossover. This new Outlander crossover is available for Rs. 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), which is one lakh cheaper than its 5 seater predecessor.
Although the price of the new Outlander is less by Rs. 1 lakh compared to its predecessor, the company has not compromised over the quality of features offered with the new crossover. The new EVO X face Outlander comes loaded with the same features that are on offer in the previous 5-seater variant. To name a few, the crossover is equipped with Keyless entry, HID headlamps with AFS funstion, steering wheel mounted controls, powered driver seat, multi-information display unit, remote operated side mirrors, warm and cool upper glove box, windshield viper and washer system, headlamp washer, auto headlamp levelling, etc. The crossover also has sufficient luggage space with the two extra seats folded.
Powered by the same 2.4-litre MPFI petrol engine, the crossover generates 167 PS of maximum power and peak torque of 226 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed auto transmission and offers fuel efficiency of 10.3 kms per litre. However, the new Outlander is not available with the diesel engine option.
In terms of safety, the 2012 Outlander sports ABS with EBD, 2 front airbags, collapsible steering column, child protection rear door locks, power windows embedded with anti-pinch system and theft protection device.
The all new 7 seater Outlander crossover is likely to give tough fight to its rivals like Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Captiva and Honda CR-V.
