Baichung Bhutia Honoured by Audi India on his Farewell Match

Bauchung Bhutia played his last match on January 10, 2012 representing India against Germany’s FC Bayern Munchen at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. Audi Football Summit was won by FC Bayern Munchen with 4-0 goals. After the match, Audi India presented a compact crossover SUV Audi Q5 to Baichung Bhutia on his last match.

January 11, 2012: The Audi Football Summit was organised at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on January 10, 2012. The Stadium witnessed a huge number of gathering of the football fans to watch between India and Germany’s FC Bayern Munchen. India’s most popular football player, Baichung Bhutia was present in the football ground to play his last match.

FC Bayern Munchen won the match against India by scoring 4-0 goals. The 22 times Bundesliga and 4 times UEFA champion team got victory in this match with the help of goals scored by Mario Gomez, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Mueller. Although India lost the game, the enthusiasm of the fans didn’t fall as they turned out to bid farewell to Baichung Bhutia, who has been the favourite Indian football player of everyone.

At the post-match conference, the MD of Audi India, Mr. Michael Perschke said, “Delhi proved that it loves football and I would like to thank the football fans in the Capital and NCR for supporting the Audi Football Summit. Both teams showed good sportsmanship. We also wish Baichung good luck for his future.”

Audi India made this match more especial by presenting a compact crossover SUV Audi Q5 to Baichung Bhutia as an honour. Baichung Bhutia praised All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Audi India for organising this match while delivering farewell speech saying, “I would like to thank Audi India and AIFF for getting Bayern to play my last international match.”
