Top automakers around the world are betting big on India despite the slowdown and are all set to launch around 50 vehicles at the Delhi Auto Expo out of which 32 vehicles are passenger cars.
December 22, 2011: The upcoming Delhi Auto Expo is about to bring lot of excitement as the domestic and the global automakers are betting big on India by launching some 50 new vehicles, despite the slowdown. Out of these 50 vehicles, 32 vehicles are passenger cars. “The largest number of unveilings will be in cars — 23 domestic and eight global,” said Rajive Kaul (steering committee chairman for Auto Expo 2012) on Wednesday.
“People are looking at India as the major opportunity market; therefore more of them are going to come. In that context, the Auto Expo is very critical,” said Mr S. Sandhiliya, the president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. “The slowdown in foreign countries is because the demand is low. In India, due to rising incomes, buying capacity is increasing,” he added.
There will be around 1,500 participants from 23 countries at the Delhi Auto Expo. Many of the companies from Germany, Britain, China, Canada, France, Italy and Japan have confirmed their participation. Looking at the curiosity of the auto enthusiasts the organizers are expecting huge crowd at the auto expo and in order to manage this crowd, the organizers have limited the number of visitors per day to 100,000. Therefore, the number of visitors will be less this year as compared to last year’s 1.2 million visitors.
Moreover, some of the potential exhibitors are also denied permission to participate at the auto expo this year, so as to manage the space in a better way.
